Art in the Capital: Traditional to Experimental
Israel’s capital city is returning to be also a capital of contemporary art. New galleries, artists’ studios, artist run spaces, municipal venues and more – are scattered around the city.
In this tour we will focus on the avant-garde collective art in Jerusalem. We will visit places where art is made and exhibited and meet the people who make it all happen. We will try to understand if there is a place for art-community values in a capitalist and materialistic society, how the municipality reacts to these initiatives and how the traditional art world accepts them. All this in Jerusalem, which surprisingly performs as the perfect arena for collective art activity.
